About the EasiGlide RPT
The EasiGlide RPT was born out of frustration with the X2 Segway support and ability to maintain and repair.
The UK suffered really bad customer support and repairs for X2s which were expensive and meant shipping machines to repair centres taking them out of business for long periods of time.

We decided, to survive and remain successful in our tour businesses we needed an alternative product!
We found a supplier that had a good foundation to work with and have been tweaking their machine ever since (6 years), making it, in our view better than the original X2 but for a fraction of the price and the ability to service and repair when needed to yourself!

There are many alternatives out there, some ok, some awful. There are also a lot of myths around the safety of alternative machines. Please read our myth buster below to give you a true comparison of the EasiGlide RPT vs the X2.

Segway X2
1 - Dual battery to ensure the machine stands up if one fails

2 - Two mainboards to ensure the machines stands incase one fails.

3 - Dual motor windings to ensure the machine stands in case of failure.
EasiGlide RPT

1 - Split battery (single unit) to ensure the machine stands up if one half fails.
2 - Split mainboard ensuring the machine still stands if resilient half fails. Separate power.

3 - More powerful motors ensuring if one fails then a single motor can still keep the machine upright.
MYTH BUSTER
The Segway X2 (and i2) were amazing machines for the time (released 2006) and for the purpose they were built.
They were engineered for an American market and were supposed to revolutionise transportation.
Because of this initial target audience and American law suit culture they were totally over engineered.
They were filled with resiliency and just in case failovers:
- Dual batteries
- Dual mainboards
- Dual motor windings
The machines had multiple areas of redundancy, just in case one failed. This meant, not only were they extremely expensive (circa £8k!) but complicated to repair and locked down to Segway approved repair centres (which there was only one in the UK).
Though some of above was wise for the purpose/market at the time, some was overkill and not seen in any other form of transport.
All that said, the EasiGlide RPT has redundant safety features too, but for all the right reasons, your safety!
What the EasiGlide RPT has over and above the Segway X2!

A key that is for info and if lost doesnt disable the machine. You can also replace and reprogram yourself
-
Improved gearboxes over the X2 meaning better ability up and down hills and can carry heavy customers
-
One extra giro meaning its more sensitive and accurate when needed.
-
A battery that can be charged off the machine without expensive accessories, meaning you can have spare batteries charging
-

Audable safety warnings
